South Plains Leatherfest will once again host the bootblack lounge featuring our fun, rowdy and sexy bootblacks! Take a load off, chat, and cruise all while your leathers are shown some love. Boots, chaps, jackets, and gloves - just about anything leather will be cleaned, conditioned and shined. So, come on by and celebrate the leather tradition of bootblacking and remember... always tip your bootblack.
Briar (She/They/Captain) is a Leather, demi-queer, poly, Top-heavy Switch—Bootblack to all and Captain to many. Active in the Dallas community since 2010, they teach, mentor, and inspire others through service and shenanigans. Briar was ICBB 2015, a 2016 Pantheon of Leather Woman of the Year nominee, and now serves as Secretary of Firedancers Dallas. They founded the DFW Bootlab and recently passed it on while transitioning toward retirement. Passionate about volunteerism, Briar finds fulfillment as part of Leslie’s Team Shine at IML, leaving a lasting impact through leadership, mentorship, and dedication to the Leather community.
Moxie Minion is a veteran Northwest Leather Gremlin, in boots, chaos, and spite as the world burns nearby. They serve as Co-Bootblack Coordinator for SPLF and Chaos Coordinator for NWLC, and held the title of Northwest Bootblack 2018. Moxie believes leather is forged through service, education, care, and doing the work as systems collapse. When not covered in polish or glitter, they run Year of Queer Lit, a project centered on uplifting queer voices in literature.
